The ray of hope

This past weekend, we all spent time watching the videos of the tsunami in Japan, over and over again. What does this do to our state of mental health? Probably creates anxiety, depression, or other feelings of distress.

Working for a mental health organization, I'm often amazed at how much we, as humans, are capable of enduring. Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and other events constantly shake us to our core, and create new waves of thought processing that we may have never seen before.

This morning, as I was watching The Today Show, a ritual of mine since I was counting my age on one hand, I came across this story, that helped put in to perspective what happened last week. It is a story that brought tears to my eyes, because it was, to me, helpful to see something positive, in the midst of devastation. It helped me realize that we should not completely attack new waves of technology, waves of thought, waves of any kind. We should embrace change, because sometimes, just sometimes, it can be what saves the day.

You have to watch this. Twice.
